Celebration of Women’s Choirs
Every three years, Elektra welcomes up to three choirs from around the world to its Tapestry International Celebration of Women’s Choirs. Singing separately and as a massed choir with Elektra, our guest choirs will spend four days together sharing, rehearsing and giving public performances. Past participants have included the Balkan Babes (BC), Brilliant Harmony (Japan), Cantus (Norway), Canzona Women’s Ensemble (CA), Esprit de Choeur (MB), Grand Rapids Women’s Chorus (MI), Mirinesse Women’s Choir (WA), Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble (CA), and Western Washington University’s Advanced Women’s Chorale (WA).
Tapestry International 2018 took place May 2 – 5, 2018. Elektra was thrilled to welcome choirs from Japan (Frisches Ei), Iceland (Gardabaer Women’s Choir) and Los Angeles (VOX Femina Los Angeles) to Vancouver. Each ensemble’s unique voice was heard in a free concert called Choral Threads. The Celebration Concert in downtown Vancouver on May 5 featured cameos by each choir and 140 voices together, and included our 12 talented Mira Youth Mentorship singers.
