Celebration of Women’s Choirs
Next offered: May 5-8, 2021
Application deadline: February 14, 2020
Every three years, Elektra welcomes up to three choirs from around the world to its Tapestry International Celebration of Women’s Choirs. Singing separately and as a massed choir with Elektra, our guest choirs spend four days together sharing, rehearsing and giving public performances. At Tapestry International, each ensemble’s unique voice is heard in a free concert called Choral Threads. The finale Celebration Concert in downtown Vancouver features cameos by each choir and all the choirs together on music rehearsed and conducted by the leaders of each ensemble. In addition to this intensive musical interaction, there is time to sight-see and enjoy beautiful Vancouver, Canada.
Past participants have included the Balkan Babes (BC), Brilliant Harmony (Japan), Cantus (Norway), Canzona Women’s Ensemble (CA), Esprit de Choeur (MB), Friches Ei (Japan), Gardabaer Women’s Choir (Iceland), Grand Rapids Women’s Chorus (MI), Mirinesse Women’s Choir (WA), Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble (CA), VOX Femina Los Angeles (CA), and Western Washington University’s Advanced Women’s Chorale (WA).
