Coventry Carol
- Composer: Traditional English
- Arranger: Michael McGlynn
- Publisher: Michael McGlynn Music
- Canadian Work: No
Program Notes:
This is a chilling tale of infanticide dating from 14th century England. Remembering the murder if the Holy Innocents, also a forgotten feast day of the early church, “The Coventry Carol” retains its relevence to today’s turbulent world.
Conductor Notes:
A very effective SSAA a cappella arrangement. Homophonic throughout and a bite to the harmonic language that reflects the poignant words well. A good addition to the repertoire.
