As effective as this piece is, I no longer consider it appropriate to sing, since its First Nations theme is not directly linked to someone from that culture. It is certainly not unique in this realm in choral repertoire, and this opinion is not meant disrespectfully toward the wonderful Lydia Adams. We did the best we could with the information we had. Now we know more, and we try to do better.
