Ne po pogrebu Bochonochek Kataetsja

  • Publisher: Kitka
  • Canadian Work: No
  • Duration: 3:30

Program Notes:

A performance by California-based Kitka of this energetic folk song caught my attention. Marichka lovingly refers to her fiancée Ivan as “a white swan” (lebjadin). Alone in the basement together, they’re teasing each other playfully, not afraid of anything.

Conductor Notes:

An energetic and flirtatious a cappella folk song. We copied Kitka’s performance found on YouTube and had a doumbek and tambourine set the beat. I assigned most verses to soloists and the choir on all refrains.
