Elektra takes a deep dive into the human experience, exploring despair, hope, love, solidarity, boldness, and more with Humanity. This concert features the music of Zanaida Robles, Claudio Monteverdi, Marie-Claire Saindon, Libby Larsen, and more, with a focus on recent works by Canadian composer Laura Hawley. Commissioned works by Hawley and Toronto-based Palestinian-Jordanian composer Natalie Fasheh round out this thought-provoking program. Enriching the listening experience are photographs by South Hazelton photographer Elizabeth Larsen. Joining Elektra for part of this program will be the singers of Elektra’s Mira Youth Mentorship Program.

Humanity program

Please note that the date of this concert is incorrect in our season brochure. The concert will take place on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 7:30 pm, and not Saturday, March 11, 2023.

COVID-19 Protocols: In Vancouver, out of an abundance of caution, Elektra continues to require audience members to be masked throughout the time they are in the concert venue. On Saturday March 11 Elektra will repeat the Humanity concert as guests of Cheam Vista Classical Concerts in Agassiz, BC. Riverside Christian Reformed Church at 7542 Morrow Road. Tickets will be available at the door or phone John at 604-819-6581. $35/adult, $30/senior, $80/family, $10/student. Note that the Agassiz performance starts at 7:00 pm.
