Securities

Significant tax savings occur when you donate publicly traded securities directly to Elektra including stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Securities received by Elektra are immediately sold and an official tax receipt is issued.

Legacy Giving

Naming Elektra in your Will ensures that your wish to support the future of choral music is honoured and your wish to be remembered for what is important to you. After you have taken care of your loved ones, consider a charitable gift as part of your legacy. The gift can be a percentage of your estate, a specific dollar amount, or a residual amount.

Elektra will provide an official receipt for income tax purposes to your estate when it receives the bequest.

Bequests can be given outright or as a contingent gift. Elektra has prepared a document with sample clauses for your Will that your lawyer can use as a guide.

Because many bequests are unique, the Choir encourages donors to please contact the Managing Director of Elektra. We would be happy to assist you, your lawyer or notary draft customized wording for your will.

In Kind Gifts

Do you have something special you’d like to contribute to a good cause? At Elektra, we warmly welcome in-kind donations such as personal effects, artwork, real estate, professional services, and unique experiences. These gifts are incredibly valuable to our annual Virtual Auction.

Tax Receipts

We follow all CRA guidelines to ensure everything is handled correctly.

Upon receiving and valuing your donation (we’ll handle the valuation through a third party if necessary), we’ll provide you with a tax receipt for the fair market value of your gift if it meets the CRA’s donation requirements. For donations valued at $1,000 or more, a third-party appraisal will be required in line with CRA regulations. Official tax receipts are issued once we have all the necessary documentation and valuations in place.

RSPs, RRIFs & TFSAs

A key advantage of these accounts is the ability to designate beneficiaries. Choosing a charity as the beneficiary for your registered accounts could lead to a significant charitable tax return.
