Women’s Choir Symposium 2017

Two choirs celebrated milestone anniversaries in 2017; Elektra was 30 and VOX Femina from Los Angeles was 20. To mark the occasion, the Women’s Choir Symposium 2017 took place in Los Angeles June 20 and 21, 2017 (just prior to the Chorus America Annual Conference).

This ‘first ever’ Symposium definitely strengthened the network of conductors of adult women’s choirs, and that was the main goal of our Women’s Choir Symposium 2017. Meeting by chance at conferences and festivals, there is never enough time to get to know each other,

The planning model was simple: keep it casual, interactive, and affordable.  We shared our collective knowledge and experience through interactive sessions. Based in LA, VOX Femina performed and served as a lab choir. Elektra was represented by Artistic Director Morna Edmundson; the choir was not in attendance.

Please email Elektra Women’s Choir to be added to the notification list about future symposia.

PS.  While we love children’s choirs and the people who conduct them, the symposium was intended for conductors of changed female voices, from senior high and up.
