For SSA choir a cappella. We commissioned this upbeat work for our 2017 Choral Leadership Workshop for Young Women. Katerina grasped the occasion well, creating a piece that could be enjoyably explored in an evening by 200 singers and also stand on its own as a concert work. Definitely do-able by younger choirs, and the message is positive and simple. A short, reflective, aleatoric section might give some singers their first taste of this technique. When the composer wanted a 4-part texture, she added a “descant” line, which means one could choose just a handful of confident singers to take this on.
