This genre [the mass] is a great challenge and a fine task for any composer — setting prayer, gratitude, love and a longing for peace in music of one major unit…. my Mass No. 6 which is composed for smaller SSA choir and piano. This mass is dedicated to the Angelica Girls’ Choir… A rather challenging piano part is accompanying the choir, sometimes just following (escorting) it, other times counter-pointing the voices. In the final movement, the piano part has slightly increasing importance, while the choir sings in unison. The audience will probably hear my profound appreciation of the choral art of J. S. Bach in it…
