We are thrilled to announce a return to live performance for our 35th season, with a line-up of concerts and events not to be missed! We open our season in November with The Light of Hope Returning, composed by Shawn Kirchner and accompanied by breathtaking visuals by Syrian-American artist Kevork Mourad. Featuring guest vocalist Allison Girvan, and a talented instrumental ensemble. In March, Elektra presents the world premiere of The Lost Words: A Spell Book. Author Robert Macfarlane’s “spells” conjure back twenty "lost" creature- and plant-words into the lives of children and adults, and Jackie Morris’s stunning paintings hold the reader spellbound. Ten Canadian composers have written twenty short pieces to be performed by Elektra and a small ensemble of instrumentalists. To round out our 35th season, we welcomes guest artists, the Sitka String Quartet, Vancouver’s own all-female ensemble from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, in a concert entitled Lake of Stars. In a program of uplifting works in celebration of life and nature, the concert features work by Santiago Veros, Marie-Claire Saindon, and Stephen Smith. ... See MoreSee Less
