Donations & Support

Your Generous Support Ensures a Bright Future for Elektra’s Music

The mission of Elektra is to inspire and lead in the choral art form by excelling in performance and through the creation, exploration, and celebration of music for adult treble voices. A beloved fixture on the Vancouver classical music scene for over 35 years, our award-winning choir is renowned nationally and internationally, working to encourage other adult treble choirs the world over. In addition to public concerts, Elektra is committed to offering outstanding community engagement programs for young singers, composers and conductors.

If you like, you can direct your one-time or monthly gift to a specific Elektra priority. Your generous support allows us to continue singing, commissioning, recording, connecting, and training the next generation.

As a non-profit organization, Elektra is registered charity 894795582RR0001.

Legacy Giving

Naming Elektra in your Will ensures that your wish to support the future of choral music is honoured and your wish to be remembered for what is important to you. After you have taken care of your loved ones, consider a charitable gift as part of your legacy. The gift can be a percentage of your estate, a specific dollar amount, or a residual amount.

Elektra will provide an official receipt for income tax purposes to your estate when it receives the bequest.

Bequests can be given outright or as a contingent gift. Elektra has prepared a document with sample clauses for your Will that your lawyer can use as a guide.

Because many bequests are unique, the Choir encourages donors to please contact the Managing Director of Elektra. We would be happy to assist you, your lawyer or notary draft customized wording for your will.

In Kind Gifts

A gift-in-kind is a non-cash donation and includes items such as personal effects, artwork, real estate and pro bono services. Elektra gladly accepts gift-in-kind donations for which there is a use for Elektra and that have been approved by our Treasurer or Finance Committee.

Upon completed valuations (third-party if needed), a donation receipt will be issued for the fair market value of the gift. Official tax receipts are issued once Elektra receives all applicable donation forms, itemized receipts and valuation of fair market value from a Canadian source. Gifts greater than or equal to $1000 will require a third-party appraisal as per the CRA. *Some conditions apply.
