Tapestry… celebrating women’s choirs 2005

Welcome! It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to “Tapestry…celebrating women’s voices”. This celebration of who we are and why we sing together was first inspired by Elektra taking part in a similar concert in Melbourne, Australia, back in 1996. Since then we have hosted two Tapestry concerts and today, we are proud to present our third.
Four women’s choirs, numbering nearly 120 voices in total, will be singing today not only for you but also for each other. They are women of all ages and backgrounds who have come together to share and join their voices together in song. Through generous collaboration, we listen and explore the many colours and textures that are a vibrant part of women’s choral singing. Ed Henderson, one of Vancouver’s best known bards of song, has written “Piping Down the Valleys Wild”, a joyous new piece for us to premiere together.
We hope our music will weave for you a rich listening experience in the warm and glorious acoustics of Ryerson United Church.
