Performed in Concert
Conductor Notes:
We performed this under the direction of Tove Ramlo-Ystad, who conducted the modified version that’s in the Disney movie “Frozen”. Within a texture of a Norwegian “yoik”, this is the hymn-tune “Fairest Lord Jesus” sung in Norwegian. The published version is in English, but we used the Norwegian words provided in the inside cover of the published score. It didn’t take long to write these in and coach the choir on the pronunciation. This piece gives your altos something fun to do, if repetitive. Tove’s instructions to them were to make the opening “mysterious”.
The title is pronounced “AY-at-neh-men WEH-lyeh”.
SSAA (called “treble I, II, III, IV”). The publication also says “with synthesizer, percussion, and optional male yoik” but we performed this a cappella.
