Program Notes:
Ward Swingle, of The Swingle Singers fame, set these delightful verses from William Shakespeare’s As You Like It (Act V, sc. 3) in his own jazzy style.
Conductor Notes:
SSAA a cappella with short solos. Introduced to Elektra by Norwegian conductor Maria Gamborg Helbekkmo, for whom I believe the treble version was arranged. Fun, tongue-in-cheek with a real “Swingle” sound. Maria is conducting Elektra on our recording of this.
