Tapestry: Exhilaration!
Tapestry International 2009 Celebratory Finale

March 1, 2009 at 5PM

Christ Church Cathedral

This was the grand finale concert of our first Tapestry International festival. From the concert program: “Tapestry – a rich combination of colours and designs woven together in a harmonious whole” is the perfect description of what all of us are about to hear and enjoy over these next few days. Elektra has a long history of bringing together women’s choirs to sing and learn from each other. We are excited this year to be raising the bar, making this a truly international event.

We welcome Brilliant Harmony from Japan with their dynamic conductor, Ko Matsushita, Western Washington University, University Choir Women under the inspiring direction of Timothy Fitzpatrick, the award-winning Balkan Babes from Victoria, BC, and of course our own Elektra Women’s Choir as hosts. Along with these guest choirs we are pleased to include for this special event 11 high-school aged singers, participants in our young singer mentorship program called Mira.”

The repertoire listed with links and details here is Elektra’s solo program and the massed choir repertoire. The solo segments performed by the three visiting ensembles were: The Balkan Babes: Sejala Sam Lenek traditional Croatian Zamuci se Boza majka traditional Bulgarian. arr.
