The Singing World: Tapestry International 2009
February 28, 2009 at 7:30 PM
Ryerson United Church
This was the second concert in our 3-concert Tapestry International festival. From the concert program: “Tapestry – a rich combination of colours and designs woven together in a harmonious whole” is the perfect description of what all of us are about to hear and enjoy over these next few days. Elektra has a long history of bringing together women’s choirs to sing and learn from each other.
We are excited this year to be raising the bar, making this a truly international event. We welcome Brilliant Harmony from Japan with their dynamic conductor, Ko Matsushita, Western Washington University, University Choir Women under the inspiring direction of Timothy Fitzpatrick, the award-winning Balkan Babes from Victoria, BC, and of course our own Elektra Women’s Choir as hosts. Along with these guest choirs we are pleased to include for this special event 11 high-school aged singers, participants in our young singer mentorship program called Mira.”
The repertoire listed here with links and details is Elektra’s solo program plus “Here’s to Song” which was performed at the end of each of the three festival concerts by all singers.
